New Insights into the Use of Rhizobia to Mitigate Soil N2O Emissions

چکیده

Agriculture is a major anthropogenic source of the greenhouse gas N2O, which also involved in stratospheric ozone depletion. While use rhizobial inoculants has already been reported as an emerging option for mitigating soil N2O emissions, this study presents situ abatement 70% emission using strain nosZ+ G49 vs. nosZ− USDA138 association with soybean. Therefore, we consider that choice inoculant leguminous crop should take into account capacity strains to reduce nitrous oxide addition their N fixation capacity. This clearly suggests mitigation could be considered not only soybean but different crops, emphasis currently placed on lupin because potential its LL200 strain. The clear demonstration reduction clover symbiotic opportunities might occur grassland.

The Effects of Land-Use Change from Grassland to Miscanthus x giganteus on Soil N2O Emissions

A one year field trial was carried out on three adjacent unfertilised plots; an 18 year old grassland, a 14 year old established Miscanthus crop, and a 7 month old newly planted Miscanthus crop. Measurements of N2O, soil temperature, water filled pore space (WFPS), and inorganic nitrogen concentrations, were made every one to two weeks. Soil temperature, WFPS and NO3 and NH4 concentrations were...

Soil N2O and NO emissions from an arid, urban ecosystem

[1] We measured soil nitrogen (N) cycling and fluxes of N2O and NO in three land-use types across the metropolitan area of Phoenix, Arizona. Urbanization increased N2O emissions compared to native landscapes, primarily due to the expansion of fertilized and irrigated lawns. Fluxes of N2O from lawns ranged from 18 to 80 mg N m!2 h!1 and were significantly larger than managed xeric landscapes (2....

Biochar increases soil N2O emissions produced by nitrification-mediated pathways

*Correspondence: María L. Cayuela, CEBAS-CSIC, Campus Universitario de Espinardo, 30100 Murcia, Spain e-mail: [email protected] In spite of the numerous studies reporting a decrease in soil nitrous oxide (N2O) emissions after biochar amendment, there is still a lack of understanding of the processes involved. Hence the subject remains controversial, with a number of studies showing no cha...

Effect of controlled drainage in the wheat season on soil CH4 and N2O emissions during the rice season

The effect of draining crop fields during the wheat season on the soil CH4 andN2O emissions during the rice season in this article. There were four treatments:traditional cultivation during the wheat season + cultivation without fertilizationduring the rice season (CK1 field), traditional cultivation during the wheat season +traditional cultivation during the rice season (CK2 field), draining t...

Global metaanalysis of the nonlinear response of soil nitrous oxide (N2O) emissions to fertilizer nitrogen.

Nitrous oxide (N2O) is a potent greenhouse gas (GHG) that also depletes stratospheric ozone. Nitrogen (N) fertilizer rate is the best single predictor of N2O emissions from agricultural soils, which are responsible for ∼ 50% of the total global anthropogenic flux, but it is a relatively imprecise estimator. Accumulating evidence suggests that the emission response to increasing N input is expon...
